How To Submissions

"There's no such thing as a boring life." Mark Twain

Flyer on ways you can participate in all "How To" opportunities and events: Advertise Your Expertise--FREE!

"How To" Submission Guidelines

If you would like to submit a "How To" article to the "How To" Workshops and Speakers Bureau blog, please follow these steps to be considered:

1. Write a one - three sentence introduction

2. Give the readers steps to follow or bulleted info for ease of reading

3. Keep your article relatively short (about 800 words max)

4. At the end of the article, write "About the Author" and include up to three sentences about yourself (it must include the town and state you live in), ONE link where the reader can learn more and your e-mail address.

5. Have a title that starts with "How To..."

6. Send the article to me, Lisa Saunders, at saundersbooks@aol.com and put in the subject line: "How To" article.

7. Include this statement in your e-mail to me (it will be included at the end of your blog post): I certify that this article was written by me, [your name], that I own all rights, and that Lisa Saunders has my permission to include it in any other material, including e-books.

To be considered for inclusion, it needs to be "family friendly," cover a different topic than those already posted, be instructive, not overly self-promotional, and be free of grammatical and spelling errors (please don't forget to use spell check and have someone else review it for other mistakes). To be considered for inclusion into my "How To" e-book, it will need to have a national appeal, which can be accomplished by stating at the end how a reader can look for an "expert" if they need help. Then, of course, add your contact info in case they live near you.

After it is published, make sure you visit your post and use the tools at the end to e-mail it to your friends and followers, and if you have Facebook, Twitter, and a Google profile (if you own a business, you should), then be sure to send it there. You can also post the direct link of your blog post to your LinkedIn account.

Thank you for sharing your expertise with the public. I hope the free publicity will help you, your cause, and the community at large.

Testimonials: “Lisa helped me revitalize my marketing strategy with innovative ideas. She repackaged a series of individual lectures I was giving (plus secured me three more) into a newsworthy item: ‘Senior Acupuncturist Kicks Off Spring Lecture Series,’ which became headline news in our local paper. Everyone saw it." Kathleen T. Poole, M.S., L.Ac, Owner of Mystic River Acupuncture.

When I moved from NY to CT, I received this e-mail from my former boss at Rockland Community College of the State University of New York:  “After reviewing the previous year’s media clipping on the College, what struck me is how many wonderful human interest stories there were, all as a result of your alertness and diligence. You really did a wonderful, wonderful job of unearthing stories and getting the media to pump out a steady stream of positive press. I know it was your ‘job,’ but you really embraced it with such enthusiasm--it really made a difference!” Tzipora Reitman, Director of Communications, SUNY Rockland Community College
